By “Sponsor a Student”, we really mean help sponsor all the students!! That just means that you specify that your donation will go to student needs (as opposed to construction, medical, outreach, etc).
The current monthly expense per child is $60.00 USD. The Bible college students require $100.00 USD per month in order to accommodate the greater number of materials needed, orientation costs, and special events or trips that will take place during their time of study. (College tuition for only $1200 a year!) The children in the day schools only need $20.00 USD each month, covering school-related materials only.
We ask that you look at the pictures and short autobiographies of each child and PRAY for them. You could even print one, two, three, or all of their photos to put on your refrigerator or in your Bible as a reminder of a child/children in need of your prayers.
We do not encourage individual sponsorship, nor do we want anyone to feel an “ownership” towards a child/the children. Please know that any funds received will be equally distributed for food, clothes, school supplies, medical treatment, and so forth. Also, the children are not forced to be in the program, and, therefore, may leave or be removed by a parent/guardian at any time. Some even come and go. So we ask that you PRAY for all the children and not be offended or too disappointed when you see some come and go from our site. Please keep them in your prayers!
When donating electronically you may choose to have the funds extracted automatically each month via PayPal or you can pay each month at your leisure using our form on the donation page. If you prefer to send a check each month, please email us at LordJesusMinistry@gmail.com for instructions and tax-deductible options. Don’t forget to include a short note clarifying that you wish the donation to go towards student sponsorship.
Also, feel free to write a student, as a pen-pal, via the following address. (It is important for us to note here that we discourage personalized gifts. If you would like to give something to the children, make sure there is enough for everyone or know that the gift will be shared!) Include the child’s name in parenthesis under Heather’s name on the letter front and the name of the village where the school is (Gangnapur or Sikkim).
