Founded and directed by Carlton and Heather Rixon with their four children, Marcus, Nikita, Miriam, and Daniel, Lord Jesus Ministry serves the poor and broken-hearted of West Bengal, India. Through the foundation and operation of a Bible college, an orphanage, several street outreaches (including technical training programs, social coaching classes, and night shelters), day schools, churches, and medical treatment centers, the Rixons have been able to provide many orphans, widows, and street children with food, clothing, shelter, education, better health, and Love.
The orphanage and education programs provide food, clothing, a uniform, a bed, and medical treatment. The curriculum that is provided is in accordance with the government board of education in India. The first language is English, then Hindi and Bengali. The children are taught to play instruments, all kinds of sports, and many technical and social skills. They are also provided with regular medical check-ups.
During monsoons and the winter, the Rixons provide plastic sheets, food, and blankets to those on the streets and hope to eventually have a night shelter in the city for girls and boys, separately, where they will not be sexually abused or harassed by drug addicts, but, rather, channeled into different programs where they can see some hope in life, be given the dignity they deserve, and find an identity.
