Monsoon Season 2011

August 10, 2011

flood-villagersDuring 2011, Kolkata faced one of the worst monsoon seasons in over a decade. We had asked many of you to join us in praying for all those affected. We were asked to assist many out in the villages with $20 roof kits to provide them with tarpaulins to cover their roofs and some dry food goods. Thankfully, you responded, and we were able to assist ten families this year!

The monsoons were very bad, and the Rixon family is very thankful for all the love, prayers, and support going on for their roof. The family continues to ask for your prayers as local officials have turned a blind eye to the repeated cries of this family because of bullying tactics and injustices by a local man and his political power. Recently, the family was able to present their case in full before the Minorities Commission for the first time. Read more »

June Monsoons

June 28, 2011

It’s the worst June Monsoon in over a decade here in India and the poor are crying out to us for help in trying to do some intermediary measures to help them survive. We are now receiving calls from all over Nadia (the district where one of our schools is located) asking for prayers and emergency roof kits with tarps  to repair temporarily the roofs and  and some dry food to help get them through the monsoons until full repairs can be made later!

Each repair will cost us $20 USD.

Once again, we face another year of the monsoons bearing down upon us. Read more »

Namchi News

May 28, 2011

Most of you know about our newly established church in Nepal. Traveling with us were two youth from our church in the Indian state of Sikkim, nestled near the beautiful city of Namchi in the mountains, Pravesh Tamang and Pritam Ghataney! Pravesh, our church’s youth leader, traveled with Pastor Jeewan Thapa to nearby Kalimpong where they were able to baptize two new individuals and start up a brand new church there. Read more »

Local Land Dispute

May 1, 2011

Recently, we reported to you about a land dispute near one of our schools. We had asked you to join us in prayer as the situation definitely merited it. Not too long ago, the quarrel boiled over onto one of our properties, and there was great concern as you could imagine. Through focused prayer by the ministry here and wisdom Carlton had received from the Lord and his prior experiences in dealing with many issues in the past, we were able to have a peaceful solution come about concerning our presence and property in the immediate area. Student Needs Eye Care

April 28, 2011

Just this past Spring, one of our students named Satyajit, got hit directly in the eye with a cricket ball while batting. (Cricket is an international game along the same lines as American baseball and is hugely popular in India as its main sport in large part because the Indian team is ranked number one in the entire world.) We sent him to one of the best eye institutes in India here locally in Kolkata for children, and he received treatments. He went for his final evaluation, and now it is just a matter of time and God’s healing power to finish its course as he grows and his eye further develops and heals. We certainly do appreciate all who have joined us in prayers for him as this has been a huge concern as you can imagine. No further treatment, medication, or even eyeglasses are required, but we are asking for continued prayers for healing as his vision is still adjusting to get back to normal.

Mission Accomplished!

March 10, 2011

Pritam, Pravesh & CarltonOur Mission Team from Nepal has returned with great results! We praise the Lord for everyone’s love, prayers, and support as our team spent the cold winter months up in the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal once again back to Gairi Village in Dolakha District to our newly planted church there.

Church

This time we had less problems traveling there, and things went fabulous! Joining us this time were a couple of young men who are called into the ministry from our church in Namchi and after completing their schooling will enter into our Bible College program. Read more »
